Data back up gone wrong!!!

Well this is not exactly considered data back up in its strictest sense but whatever...
The memeory stick found in a pub car park which contained the user names and passwords of people who have registered to use the government's Gateway website which allows people to fill out tax forms etc. online.

The memory stick containing the data (odd way of backing up data no?) was taken out of the companies premises without their knowledge and thus violating company standards. So basically this is an example of en employee being careless/retarded or doing what is known as a David Matkov. What is pretty scary about this loss is that the memory stick contained the details of 12 million people! But luckily for the company who were hired to "protect" the data, the data was for an older version of the website (yeah right) and that the data had been encrypted (much more believable). The timing of the loss (in political terms) was perfect as Senor. Brown was away in the uhhh UAE and thusly the political opponents of Mr. Gordon Brown (just to clarify) started a big brouhaha about this data loss. Ironically they themselves lost data in a similar fashion!!

What I would suggest that they should do for back up is.....TO DO WHAT OTHER COMPANIES DO!!! Basically to either use the servers + the individual PCs to have a copy of the data and/or to use a network external hard drive.

Evaluation of Google Docs against Powerpoint.......

To evaluate Google Docs Powerpoint against Microsoft Powerpoint we are going to look at the following criteria:

  • Animations
  • Easy to use
  • Text entries
  • Inserting media

Microsoft Powerpoint

  • Easy to animate and choose individual items to animate. Various animations can be used.
  • Powerpoint is very easy to use and help is easily available.
  • Text Entries are very easy to do and edit and word art can be used just as easily.
  • Inserting media is also extremely simple.

Google Docs Powerpoint

  • No animation possible
  • It is relatively easy to use as it has very few "extra" functions.
  • Text entries are very simple.
  • Inserting media is a bit more complicated as you have to upload the pictures or you have to find the url for the pictures.

A career in animation

It is not staright forward for sure....btw this applies to 3D computer animation...

You can be a freelance person with no qualifications and still be accepted as in the animation industry talent comes above skills hmmm.... Starting salary can £13-15k with salaries in the gaming industry a bit higher at £18k. New animators and compositors may be paid £70 - £140 per day although commercials will pay more. Senior figures in the animation industry earn six-figure salaries. Sometimes at the end of a project a bonus is paid which can be the equivalent of a FULL YEARS SALARY!!! This applies especially for computer gaming...If you are considering a Computer graphics career, then you may need to have a qualification for maths or physics. That is about it....for now
